Nexorpan

o Description and properties:
Nexorpan (Naproxen sodium) is an anti-inflammatory,analgesic and antipyretic that belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.

o Indications:
Inflammatory and degenerative rheumatic diseases as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthrosis, ankylosing spondylitis;and acute gout. Analgesic for, headache,migrain, toothache, primary dysmenorrhoea, and musculoskiletal disorders.

o Dosage and administration:
Adults:
For faster absorption when a rapid initial effect is required nexorpan tab. May be taken 30 minutes befor meals or at least 2 hours after meals with a full glass of water.
Antirheumatic: 275mg two times a day or 275mg in the morning and 550mg in the evening.
Analgesic: 550mg initially then 275mg every 6-8 hours as needed.
Antigout: 825mg initially then 275mg every 8 hours until the attack has subsided.
Antidysmenorrheal: 550mg initially , then 275mg every 6-8 hours as needed.
The dosage should be adjusted to the needs of the individual patient.
Contraindications:
Nexorpan must not be administered in patients with active gastric or duodenal ulcers, in patients with hypersensitivity towards Naproxen and/or Naproxen sodium, nor in patients with hypersensitivity towards other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.
In cases of severely impaired renal function long-term treatment should not be carried out.

Precautions:

In an elderly patients and patients with a history of gastric or duodenal disease, acute inflammatory gastro-intestinal disease, severely impaired hepatic, renal or cardiac function should only be treated with Nexorpan under regular medical supervision (blood monitoring before and during treatment ).
The patient’s attention should be drawn to be possible impairment of his capacity to drive.
Pregnancy and Lactation :
Nexorpan is not recommended unless otherwise prescribed by physican.
Side Effects:
Relatively frequent gastrointestinal side-effects such as nausea’ vomiting’ epigastric discomfort, bloating, diarrhoea,
Interactions:
When Nexorpan in administered together with: Coumarine, sulphonylureas, hydantoins, frusemide, lithium,
Antihypertensives (Propranolol) , methotrexate and probencid care should be taken .
Presentation :
Nexorpan 275 F/C Tablets: Each F/C tablet contains Nexorpan Sodium USP 275 mg.
Blister packs of 20 tablets and hospital packs different sizes are available .
Nexorpan-550 F/C Tablets: Each F/C tablet contains Nexorpan Sodium USP 550 mg.
Blister packs of 10 tablets and hospital packs different sizes are available .
