Norcetam
Description :
Norcetam (Piracetam) is a pscychotropic agent acting on the brain to
improve the efficacy of telencephalon, which is involved in cognition,
learning, memory and alertness. Piracetam acts on the CNS by modifying
neurotransmission within the brain and improves metabolic environmental
essential for neuronal function. It is also a haemorrheological agent
which improves microcirculation without producing vasodilation.
Norcetam will inhibit the increased aggregation of activated platelets
and, it can restore deformability and the ability to pass through the
microvasculature in conditions where there is abnormal rigidity of the
red blood cell.
Norcetam is rapidly and almost completely absorbed in the gut. Plasma
half-life is 4 to 5 hrs, while the half-life in the cerebrospinal fluid
is 6 to 8 hrs.
